It was supposed to be a kokeshi inspired doll, but ended up looking like pucca =P

So here goes!

Head
with white yarn

Row1: Magic Ring with 6 stitches (6)
Row2: 2 single crochet in each st (12)
Row3: 1 single crochet in the 1st stitch, 2 single crochet in the next, repeat all around (18)
Row 4-6: work the 3 rows even
Row 7: 1 invisible decrease in the 1st stitch, 1 single crochet in the next, repeat all around, stuff it tightly (12)
Row 8: invisible decrease all around, slip stitch and sew shut

Hair
in black yarn

Row 1: Magic Ring with 8 stitches (8)
Row 2: 2 single crochet in each st (16)
Row3: 1 single crochet in the 1st 3 stitches, 2 single crochet in the next, repeat all around (20)
Row 4&5 : work the 2 rows even
Row 6: 14 half double crochets, chain 1, turn
Row 7: 14 half double crochet, slip stitch, leave long tail for sewing to the head

Buns (make 2 of these)
in black yarn

Row 1: Magic Ring with 4 stitches (4)
Row 2: 2 single crochet in each st join the red yarn(8)
Row 3: work the row even, slip stitch and leave tail for sewing

Assembly

Weave some yarn to make a braid, pass it through the center of the hair piece, give it a knot and using a embroidery needle weave the yarn ends into the headpiece to make it more stable. Tie the other braid end to a keychain ring.

Fix the hair piece to the head with some pins. Using the tail, sew the hair to the head, starting at row 6 (so you skip a row making it look more like longish hair)

Fix the hair buns to the hair with some pins and sew them.

Grab some good sewing thread, 2 long black beads and fix them in order to make the eyes. I like to knot the ends of the thread under the hair flap to make it harder for the beads to come off.

Use a q-tip and some cheesy pink blush to make the cheek effects.

Try it out and let me know how it turned out =PRubicrafthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05423520128310473719noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4464986557950411041.post-76416902024602503232011-01-10T17:55:00.000-08:002011-01-11T09:48:45.604-08:00Hello everyoneHey there!
